Great Interest in GBSworld: New User Conference Makes Successful Debut with Future IT World Topics

September 15, 2011 – Paderborn, Germany – Featuring two days of informative discussions, exciting lectures and renowned experts, the GBSworld premiere in Paderborn came to a successful end September 14, 2011.  With this new user conference, GROUP Business Software AG (GBS) brought together – for the first time – both customers and partners of their different divisions under one roof and informed them about the latest developments and future challenges in the Lotus world.  The agenda included a wide range of multifaceted topics such as Cloud Computing, Process Management, Email and Instant Messaging as well as Web 2.0 Application Modernization.

In her lecture entitled "Shaping the Future Together", Constanze Zarth, COO Europe at GBS, put a focus on the evolving demands of users who increasingly want to be able to access solutions at any time, from anywhere.  Among the drivers for companies facing these demands, she primarily identified the recent advances in cloud computing. With their cloud platform GROUP Live and their modernization solution GBS Transformer, GBS presented solutions to the expert audience – including decision makers and IT managers – that will help companies meet the growing demands on applications and infrastructures.

Not surprisingly, GBS Transformer met with particularly great interest. The solution, which was presented for the first time to a wide audience at the GBSworld conference, combines special services and patented technologies. It allows companies to transform a large number of existing Lotus Notes / Domino applications in an automated way to make them available for web-based environments and mobile devices.

“With GBSworld, we have set up a practical user conference, where decision makers and IT managers can receive useful suggestions from experts and be informed about specific solutions to meet their work challenges of today and the future", said Andreas Richter, Director Marketing Europe at GBS.

In his lecture, Louis Richardson, Social Business Evangelist at IBM USA, described the future of collaboration within and across companies and referred to numerous examples that impressively illustrate the possibilities offered by Social Software. The expert lectures at GBSworld were rounded off by breakout sessions for discussions on current issues as well as best practice sessions from a users’ perspective.
