1. CeBIT 2012 – GBS combines IBM Lotus with Cloud and Web 2.0

From March 6-10 GBS is located in hall 2, booth D30, at the world’s largest IT trade fair in Hannover - the CeBIT 2012. Here GBS will present their award-winning solutionsand expertise in the modernisation and scalability of application environments. GBS Transformer 2.0 and the GROUP Live cloud platform for automated application delivery are only two of its current highlights demonstrated at the CeBIT booth.

To visit GBS at CeBIT 2012 could also be a rewarding experiencefor companies focusing on improving collaboration and optimising existing business processes. GBS will present a broad portfolio of solutions designed to accelerate, simplify and safeguard your processes – from compliant control of the electronic communication to the integration of email into business processes and central management of Domino infrastructures.

2. IBM Lotusphere 2012: GBS – Your Experts in Social Business

Lotusphere 2012, held at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort in Orlando on Jan 15-19, proved again to be a great event for GBS. It drew about 5,000 business professionals from around the world to learn about IBM's Social Business agenda and how they can start to embrace it within their businesses. With our largest presence ever at a trade show, our customers and prospects were able to see, feel and talk to our staff and executives about our large range of offerings for the Cloud and IBM Lotus Domino. Below are some of the highlights:

• Lotusphere in 60 Seconds
• ISSL (IBM Software Services for Lotus) announced they will be using GBS Transformer to help their clients convert their Lotus Notes client applications to modern XPages web applications
• GBS AppBuilder was named a Finalist for 2012 Best of Lotusphere: Cutting Edge Social Business Solution Utilizing Cross IBM SWG Capabilities - Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Award

GBS College Day at Lotusphere
On Monday, January 16th, GBS & IBM hosted hundreds of College Students - the future of social business, from 14 different colleges and universities around Florida. In addition, GBS invited the winners of GBS's Social Business Challenge to the event. GBS teamed up with IBM's The Great Mind Challenge (TGMC) team for a pilot of a new academic initiative. 100 students from San Jose State University were tasked to investigate the emerging sphere of social business using a real-world example. Both undergraduate and graduate students conducted a social business audit of GBS then built a prototype social business solution based on their recommendations. The winning team - Awesome Watson - came to Lotusphere and each member was awarded a Kindle Fire, care of GBS.

3. GBS announces Transformer project with Harcros Chemicals Inc.

GROUP Business Software announces the launch of a web-enablement project in collaboration with Harcros Chemicals Inc. The company is a leading distributor and manufacturer of industrial chemicals with 28 operating sites in North America. GBS Transformer and its patented methods are the foundation for the implementation of the project.

Harcros has been using IBM Lotus Notes and the Domino platform for years and now requires more flexible access to company storage facilities and branch offices via internet and mobile devices.

Harcros decided to employ GBS due to its longstanding experience with IBM Collaboration software. One important factor in this process was the GBS Transformer technology and its methodic approach to the conversion of existing Lotus Notes applications into modern Web 2.0 XPages applications.

4. News about iQ.Suite: iQ.Suite 14.1 for LND and iQ.Suite 10.1 for MSX/SMTP now available

We are pleased to introduce you to two new releases for the leading email management solution iQ.Suite 14.1 for Lotus Notes Domino and iQ.Suite 10.1 for Microsoft Exchange/SMTP.

Overview of selected innovations of iQ.Suite 14.1 for LND:

• In quarantine summary notifications, placeholders can also be used outside of the table.
• 2 global parameters can be used to react to missing recipient entries in the ’Recipients‘ fiel.
• During an update installation, existing data bases are temporarily secured, in order to be able to restore the original conditions in case of failure. This feature can be deactivated optionally.

Select innovations of iQ.Suite 10.1 for MSX/SMTP:

• Credit card numbers in emails can be detected.
• It is no longer necessary to install an additional McAfee Scanner to use McAfee Scan technology. iQ.Suite 10.1 contains an integrated OEM version of the McAfee Virus Scan Engine.
• The integrated Avira SPACE Anti-Spam Engine has been updated to SDK Version 12.0.1.
• The integrated Avira AntiVir Scan Engine has been updated to SDK Version 3.3.

5. At the push of a button: Worldwide PDF archiving of emails and receipts at Sefar AG

Sefar AG is an internationally operating Swiss corporate group specialised in screen printing and filtration applications. On one hand, Sefar required that the various legal guidelines pertaining to the storage of business relevant information are met. On the other hand, internal customer processes were to be simplified and central access to important documents was to be established.

For this reason, the company was looking for a solution that is capable of a quick and uniform conversion of paper documents and emails including their attachments into PDF. A central access was also an important criteria. This is possible with GBS ePDF for Lotus Domino. Thus, Sefar decided to employ the server-based solution in its sales department.

Today, Sefar archives almost 100 percent of all documents and emails centrally and automatically in this department. With GBS ePDF, the Swiss corporate group has structured its document processes in a more uniform and efficient manner. Data from the various media can be combined and stored as electronic PDF files without a formatting bridge.

8. iQ.Suite Tips and Tricks for Lotus Domino: How "Kürschnergate" in the German Bundestag could have been avoided

When the latest edition of “Kürschner” was released, an admin officer wanted to request a copy of the Parliament Handbook. However, she accidentally hit ’reply all’ when sending her email, causing others to also respond by using the ’reply all’ button, which resulted in a type of email tsunami. This incident almost disabled the German Bundestag.

If you would like to avoid mishaps of this kind, read here what is important for your email traffic.

9. The Exchange/SMTP Corner: Adjusting notification options for restricted emails

Information about the quality and quantity of the current email traffic is important for the introduction of email restrictions. iQ.Suite supports this with the reporting and statistics function by providing figures, data and facts.

Even though iQ.Suite recognises several restrictions in your email, it is able to send one notification per restriction. This can be partially traced by the user.
