1. 20 years of expertise and innovation: GBS celebrates a milestone birthday

In March, GROUP Business Software AG (GBS) is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Founded on 29 March 1994, the listed company has become a global player in technology and software development. More than 5,000 customers and 4 million users trust in the provider’s collaboration and messaging solutions and services.

GBS owes much of its 20-year success story to iQ.Suite, an email management solution developed in Germany, which is now one of the leading solutions for controlling electronic communication in IBM Domino and Microsoft Exchange environments. Against the backdrop of the espionage affair surrounding PRISM and others, clients increasingly place value on trustworthy solutions for the protection of their data.

Developing innovative solutions that have a finger on the pulse and an eye on customer needs is a driving force behind the company. GBS AppDesigner has recently been positioned in Experton Group’s ‘Leader quadrant’ of the 2014 social business vendor benchmark.

2. New GBS website is online

Have you seen our new website? Not yet? Then it is time for a visit! Over the past few months, we have worked tirelessly on improving the user experience. The new GBS website finally went online just in time for CeBIT 2014.

A lot has changed. Most obviously: the design. We aimed for a more modern appearance with more images. In addition, we have improved user navigation. Our solutions and services now take centre stage. Due to the uniform menu structure and flat hierarchy levels, content can now be located more easily. In addition, contacting your GBS team has also been simplified.

There have also been several changes in terms of technology. For example, the new website employs a responsive web design. With this feature, the appearance flexibly adjusts to the screen size of the respective devices. Regardless of whether you are using a desktop PC, smartphone, or tablet – the user experience is ensured on all devices. This is particularly important when it comes to using mobile devices, since access via smartphones and tablet PCs is on the rise.

5. Vulnerability in OpenSSL

OpenSSL is a widely used cryptographic library, which is also used in iQ.Suite for IBM Domino and Microsoft Exchange/SMTP.

Recently a vulnerability, the Heartbleed bug, has been detected in this OpenSSL library. The following iQ.Suite versions are affected:

  • iQ.Suite for Microsoft Exchange/SMTP version 12.1.x
  • iQ.Suite for IBM Domino version 15.2.x and 16.x

A bugfix has already been provided by OpenSSL developers. We have been working intensively on integrating it into the affected iQ.Suite versions. These are now available at GBS Downloads.
