Be aware: Sandworm hacks media and chemical weapons companies

Macro viruses and ransomware are still on the rise. According to the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution well-known German media companies (For example ZDF and WDR, two public-broadcasting institutions) and an European organization in the field of chemical weapons research have become victims of hacker attacks. The attack by the Russian hacker group Sandworm probably took place in August 2017.

When opening seemingly innocent Word documents attached to email, the recipient was advised to allow the execution of so-called macros. If followed, the attackers could spy on sensitive data and manipulate IT systems.

New offering! AppDesigner as a Service – soon live as BETA version

The final development phase for our new offering “AppDesigner as a Service” is currently in progress. With its help, prospective customers will be able to add the GBS AppDesigner to their existing SharePoint site via the Microsoft AppSource Market and then use it.

“AppDesigner as a Service” is a cloud offering from GBS that allows using workflow management tools without the need of adding hardware to your IT infrastructure.

The BETA version of “AppDesigner as a Service” is planned to be released in August. It will then be available for download from the Microsoft AppSource Market and you will be able to test all its features.

Update of Avira SAVAPI license and Kaspersky KAV / KAS license in iQ.Suite

On our support page you can download current licenses of the integrated components of Avira and Kaspersky and replace them in older iQ.Suite versions.

In the current release versions as of iQ.Suite 17.0 for Exchange/SMTP/O365 and iQ.Suite Domino 21.0 and 20.3.3, these license files are already included (expiration date in 2020).

Discontinuations with iQ.Suite Domino 21.0 and Avira SAVAPI 3 versions

Please note: As announced in the May newsletter, IBM will no longer have Solaris support after 30/09/2018. As of iQ.Suite 21.0 for Domino, the Sun Solaris version has been discontinued, as well as the support for Domino 8 versions.

From iQ.Suite Version 21.0 for Domino, the following iQ.Suite setup packages will be available:

• iQ.Suite – Windows – Domino 9 64-Bit
• iQ.Suite – Windows – Domino 9 32-Bit
• iQ.Suite – Linux – Domino 9 64-Bit
• iQ.Suite – AIX – Domino 9 64-Bit

Support for current iQ.Suite versions remains unaffected.

Avira has discontinued the SAVAPI 3 versions as of 31.12.2017.
From iQ.Suite Version 21.0 for IBM Domino/Verse and 17.0 for Microsoft Exchange/SMTP/ O365, only the SAVAPI 4 versions will be delivered. Avira customers will receive pattern and engine updates until the end of 2018.

Email encryption meets GDPR: No problem with iQ.Suite PDFCrypt

Email encryption is gaining more and more in importance with regard to the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). With iQ.Suite PDFCrypt, emails can be securely transmitted in password-protected PDFs. Soon the password of the encrypted PDF can be transmitted via an SMS gateway to the recipient, which is provided by the customer in advance. more >>
