CeBIT Premiere: GBS AppDesigner Integrates Microsoft SharePoint and Facilitates the Intuitive Development of Web Applications in the Cloud

Frankfurt, Germany

Right on time for the start of CeBIT 2015, the collaboration experts of GROUP Business Software (GBS) have announced the release of a new cloud-enabled version of GBS AppDesigner. Previously only available for IBM Domino, the solution is now accessible to an even larger audience. The app, which could only be used with iOS, is now also available for Android. CeBIT visitors are able to learn about the new features at GBS’ stand A30 in hall 2.

The analysts of Experton Group declared GBS AppDesigner, the solution for intuitive development of web applications, Social Business Leader 2015. Now, companies are able to use the solution from the private or public cloud, no matter which platform they employ. This further facilitates the use of GBS AppDesigner and allows companies to integrate the solution into their own infrastructure even faster.

Using the GBS solution’s modern web interface, IT departments and expert users without programming experience are able to develop new applications and to make existing business applications ready for use on mobile devices, such as social business platforms. Thanks to the intuitive operation with workflow support, modern platform-independent applications can be created in no time.

Web applications created with GBS AppDesigner can be directly integrated into Microsoft SharePoint 2013 environments as provider-hosted applications, and do not require further development. SharePoint users no longer have to leave their environment and can run their created applications directly through SharePoint. Access to relevant data and processes within the SharePoint platform reduces system failures. “The integration of SharePoint and the interplay with the cloud is our response to the desire of many of our customers to achieve flexibility and agility in their application infrastructures,” says Andreas Richter, GBS’ EVP Marketing & Product Management.

After GBS expanded AppDesigner’s mobile use by releasing the Apple iOS app last year, the company now introduces the Android version to the public. Without additional development efforts, Android users are immediately able to access the applications they developed from mobile devices and become actively engaged in business processes on the go. Thanks to a synchronization process, working without mobile phone signal is also possible. This way, business processes, such as releases that once had to wait until administrators returned to their office PCs, can now be effortlessly continued anywhere and at any time.

With the integration of web and cloud technology, as well as platform-independent use in social business platforms and on mobile devices, GBS AppDesigner constitutes the foundation for a modern application strategy. Constanze Zarth, GBS’ COO suggests: “Today, a comprehensive application strategy has to account for factors such as mobility, cloud and the interplay with various platforms. With AppDesigner, we attend to these important issues and provide our customers with security in planning their steps toward a sustainable IT landscape.”

At their stand in hall 2, the GBS collaboration experts will provide visitors with advice for developing their own application strategies and present sample scenarios that have been implemented using GBS AppDesigner.
