Notes 9 introduced a new toolbar, in which symbols for emails and calendars are now a standard feature and displayed in addition to the “Open“ button.

Via this “masterhead” part of the new user interface, additional symbols can be displayed using the “View/Show Shortcut Buttons“ menu.

A significant increase in productivity can be achieved especially through the direct access to contacts and the home page.

Additional symbols, such as connections to a CRM system, can be added via a program plugin (“com.ibm.rcp.ui.shortcutButtonSet“). We are happy to help with implementation, if you are interested.

As in the previous Notes version, the open list can be docked to the left side of the screen via “View/Dock the Open List“.

The symbols inside can also be edited and moved or supplemented using drag & drop.

The “New” symbol has a small down arrow next to it, which can be used to open the context menu.
The masks contained in it can be expanded individually.

Open a new document via the desired mask, such as a phone message from the CRM, and add a new bookmark using “create / bookmark“.

Adjust the display name in the dialog box and select the bookmark category “more bookmarks/create“.

Now you’re able to create documents using this mask in the corresponding database, independent of the context.

Shortcuts

New shortcuts allow for opening mail (Ctrl+1), calendars (Ctrl+2) and contacts (Ctrl+3) directly. All shortcuts can be displayed using Ctrl + Shift+ L.
